The CAIRO standard was almost mandatory in the 80’s and 90’s.
Information is still at http://www.familybest.co.uk/cairo/index.html
Suspect that many items on the ‘bill of materials’ are no longer available.
Review materials availability and decide whether the standard remains viable.

Took components list from http://www.familybest.co.uk/cairo/manual/components.html#s7l .
Ran order codes through the RS and Farnell websites for a first pass as I thought the 4 core cable had gone obsolete.
Other than changes in order codes as product has been replaced with ROSH/WEEE compliant product, most things look available, Next challenge is whether they are still priced appropriately.
New order codes need checking before any use.

Equivalent system seen at Friedrichshafen in 2019 seemingly using RF45 connectors and Cat 5 cables. Another version now found and apparently patented in the USA at https://www.swapmyrigs.com/ using VGA shielded cable.
The concept is still loved by some !
