Sunday Activity Net

Our Sunday Activity Net is held every Sunday at 1600hrs local.

The Activity Net starts by taking check-ins from all those wishing to acknowledge that they are listening. The net controller using the call-sign ‘G4NRC’ will ask for call-signs with a number. Each alternative week will start by ZERO and working through to NINE and the other week will start at NINE and work down to ZERO.

On occasions when we are aware of problems with the connected networks, will may ask for call-signs on a particular network to help us diagnose where the problem might be.

You can access the network via the following access points.

Network Access Point
Brandmeister DMR Talk Group 23531
Phoenix DMR Talk Group 23531
D-Star XLX005 R
YSF Room RAYNET-UK 23531

There is a dashboard for each of the access point which you can access from RAYNET-UK 23531 EveryWhere

When using the network PLEASE remember to leave a gap of about 4 seconds between overs to allow ALL connected Devices/Repeaters to reset.

If you have trouble accessing any of these access points, please contact the TECHNICAL TEAM for assistance.

Yep, needs a little tweak for the zeroes but also a broader flow for the net controller to follow. Look at https://www.w5rrr.org/net-control-script/ for an extreme example

Net Control Script

NOTE: Speak Slowly, Clearly, and into the microphone at all times.

QST, QST, QST.

This is , , serving as Net control for the G4NRC RAYNET-UK Weekly Activity Net. This net meets each Sunday afternoon at 4:00PM local and is open to all amateur radio operators.

Before beginning the net this afternoon, if there are any stations with emergency or priority traffic, please call now.

The primary purpose of this radio net is to provide the opportunity for members, and other amateur radio operators, to test equipment, exchange traffic, news, opinions, and information. Additional information and announcements are available on the RAYNET-UK website which can be found at, all the W’s dot RAYNET-UK.NET.

  • The JSCARC is intended to primarily facilitate multiple NASA activities, including assisting schools to make direct or telebridge contacts with the “Amateur Radio on International Space Station” program,– also known as: the ARISS program.
  • Also, the JSCARC is intended to provide:
    • support for educational outreach programs,
    • support to the JSC Emergency Operations Center (EOC)
    • and assistance, as needed, in the training of astronauts on the use of ISS amateur radio hardware.

The JSCARC is engaged in a variety of activities throughout the year including contesting, VHF/UHF operations, antenna building and testing, DIY projects, ARRL Field Day, special operating events, and miscellaneous Public Service activities. Club meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:30PM and typically located in one of the rooms in the Gilruth facility. Please check the W5RRR web site for the posted meeting room location. Access to the Gilruth Center is off of Space Center Boulevard on the northeast side of the Johnson Space Center.

This is a directed net, which means all calls are to be made to the net control station unless you are instructed otherwise. All amateur radio operators are invited and encouraged to check into the net.

When checking into the net please announce your call sign slowly and phonetically followed by your name and whether or not you have traffic for the net. After a few check-ins the net control will pause and review the check-in list. If your check-in is not acknowledged, then please try again.

We will now begin taking check-ins to the RAYNET-UK Weekly Activity Net. Any stations wishing to check-in to the net, please call now.

Thank you for these check-ins.

I have copied:

Are there any additional check-ins? Please call now.

Are there any corrections to this list? Please call now.

ECHOLINK~~~~

I’d like to check-in the W5RRR Echolink remote participants at this time.

Because our Echolink node is currently unable to be keyed, users are in listen-only mode.

*OPTION 1* (if you are monitoring Echolink)

*OPTION 2* (if you are NOT monitoring Echolink)

May I ask for a relay from someone who is monitoring the check-ins on Echolink?

We shall now take stations who have indicated they have traffic:

Thank you. Does anyone have comments or questions on this traffic?

And now we will proceed with RAYNET-UK traffic.

That ends RAYNET-UK traffic.

Are there any comments or questions on this traffic?

At this time we will now take in any additional check-ins. Any additional check-ins please call now.

Thank you for these check-ins.

I have copied:

Are there any additional check-ins? Please call now.

If late check-ins have traffic:

We shall now call on stations who have indicated they have traffic:

Thank you. Does anyone have comments or questions on this traffic?

Before we close the net for tonight, if there are any additional check-ins, please call now.

**

I wish to thank all stations for taking time out of their busy schedules to participate in afternoon’s net. Be careful and have a good week. Until next Sunday afternoon at 4:00PM local time, I now close the RAYNET-UK Weekly Activity Net and return the network to normal amateur radio use.

23531 Everywhere

The 23531 Everywhere RAYNET-UK network consist of the following components.

YSF Reflector being the main hub that glues everything together. From the YSF Reflector the connection to the outside which includes the DMR Brandmeister & Phoenix Networks and the D-Star Reflector XLX005 R.

On the other side we have the Internal DMR network which is available to RAYNET-UK Groups and Members for the purpose of running events, local nets and exercises. The internal network is also available for general rag chew sessions and is there 24/7.

The Talkgroup 23531 is available everywhere and depending on how you choose to access the network. If you choose to access from the OUTSIDE then please check the SUNDAY ACTIVITY NET page for the correct details on how to access the network.

The INSIDE network is a little bit tricky depending on how you choose to access it and this is best discussed with out TECHNICAL TEAM to work out the easiest way for you to access the network.

Using the template for the Talkgroups 50GGGLL to work out the Talkgroup range for your group.

The 50 is mandatory.

The ‘LL’ is for the a local allocated number allocated by the group concerned.

The only allocated number for each group ‘LL’ will be 00 which will be for local liaison and ragchew outside of any event and can be accessed by any RAYNET member on the internal DMR Server and not for event use.

In addition to these allocated Talkgroup 23531 will be available as it has been during the testing phase and will remain available for NATIONAL LIAISON/RAG CHEW. This is the talkgroup we have been testing for some time now.

Graphical view of network attached. I have done it in ‘Dia’ , just cant post that source to the comment.

Proposed summary of Private server numbering scheme

The talkgroup numbering for the private server when dialled from a Pi-Star hotspot is of the form;

 5sgggnn
  | | |
  | | +- nn are locally assigned talkgroups 00 to 99
  | +---- ggg is the group code for the local group/county zone concerned.
  | e.g. 312 West Cheshire, 846 Merseyside, 910 Zone 10
+------ s is a service number which allows extension for other services
          e.g 0=DMR Voice
              1=Data over DMR
              2= VoIP Extensions etc.
